Transfer and become a Tusla Foster Carer
When you become a Tusla foster carer you will join Irelands largest community of foster carers. Tusla foster carers are diverse and come from all walks of life. In Tusla Fostering our sole purpose is to ensure that children who are not able to live with their families are assured of a loving, safe and stable family home. We are Irelands longest established foster care provider and we are the only statutory provider of foster care services. This means we are a state agency, not for profit. As a Tusla foster carer you will have direct access to the social work teams who work with children coming into foster carer because we all work for the same agency.
Tusla also employs a wide range of professionals who will support you and your foster child on your journey including social workers, social care workers, psychologist, education supports and more. As a Tusla carer you will be paid the foster care allowance, you may also have access to additional financial supports as well as a medical card for your foster child. Our Tusla fostering teams also provide ongoing training and support to you and your family with 1:1 visits as well as support groups for you and should you need it your children. Tusla has a peer support service staffed by experienced foster carers who understand the foster care journey. Tusla also provide 24/7 support to our foster carers through our professionally staffed on call line.
Tusla is currently implementing a strategic plan for foster care services which is specifically focused on developing and evolving our foster care services and listening to the voice of our Tusla foster carers.
