GENERAL

A large number and wide variety of general internet search engines exist. A small selection of these is provided below. When searching for information on the Internet using a Search Engine, it is always a good idea to use the same search terms across a number of different search engines. Each works differently and the results delivered from the same search on each are usually different as well.

SPECIALIST

A large number of ‘specialist’ search engines have also been designed usually to assist in searching for information on a given subject or specialism. A number of these are included below where they are relevant to the Social Work and Social Care disciplines.

ERIC is an abbreviation for Educational Resources Information Center. ERIC is a widely searched education database used by millions of researchers, students, faculty, librarians, and others searching for education research.
