Policy Guidance Documents for the Early Years Sector

Introduction

Registered providers of early years services are required by regulation to have a number of policies, procedures and statements in place, so as to protect the safety, health and wellbeing of children attending. Registered providers are responsible for ensuring that the required policies, procedures and statements are effectively developed, fully implemented in practice, and regularly reviewed in their services.

On this page we set out information and guidance on what is required for effective policy development, implementation and review, and what should be specifically addressed in each required policy. This information will support registered providers and early years educators and practitioners who are developing and/or reviewing their policies and also reassure parents and guardians, and the children attending these services, that appropriate policies, procedures and statements are in place.

This guidance document will support registered providers and staff in services to develop, review and implement the required policies for their service

These individual policy guidance notes have been developed for each one of the policies required by regulation, whether the service is a registered Pre-school service and/or an After School service.
