Early Years Update
As you will be aware, a number of documents need to be submitted by 30th June 2020 to conclude the re-registration process with Tusla. When we last wrote to you, we said that we would get in touch in February with information and clear guidance on how best to conclude this process.
This guidance will provide further information on what you need to do to complete the process, and what support is available. An Irish language version will also be available in the coming week.
To remind you, the remaining documents required are:
- Garda Vetting for company directors and the boards of management (where the directors or board members have access to children in the service.)
- Policy on managing behaviour
- Complaints policy
- Policy on the administration of medication
- Policy on infection control
- Policy on safe sleep
- Fire safety certificate or Fire risk assessment (see guidance document)
- Planning permission or Sworn Affidavit (see guidance document)
- Floor plans
Some of you may have submitted all, or some, of these documents already. For those of you who haven’t, it’s really important to start the process of gathering these remaining documents as soon as possible. Once you start the process in the coming weeks, we will be able to advise you further if you encounter any difficulties along the way, particularly in relation to fire and planning. When you have prepared all of the required documents you can submit them via the online portal, which will be open from Thursday 2nd April 2020.
To help alleviate concerns regarding compliance with planning and fire requirements by the 30 June, we will accept an extension of time that a local authority, fire officer or competent person deems appropriate. You will find more information about this in the guidance document.
When you have taken some time to read the guidance document, you may have further questions in relation to your own service or situation. If you do, you can:

A member of the team will be able to advise you further. The guidance also includes details of support bodies that can assist you with the process.
When you submitted your re-registration application before 31st December 2019, your service was re-registered, and you will have received your letter confirming this. That letter can be used as official confirmation of your registration. Once your re-registration process concludes we will issue your final registration certificate.
