STEP 4 – Receive Confirmation

After you submit your application 

AEARS will acknowledge your submission and begin processing it. This may take a few days. Your application must be confirmed as complete in writing before you can begin home educating.

Email communication 

We will contact you using the email address provided on your R1 Application Form to confirm your contact details and your preference to communicate by email. You must reply within two days.

If you do not respond, or if you choose not to use email, we will contact you by registered post instead.

Incomplete applications 

If information is missing, we may contact you by phone, email, or post. This will delay processing, so please ensure your application is complete before submitting.

Complete applications 

Once your application is confirmed as complete, AEARS will notify you in writing that you may begin home education.

If your child is currently enrolled in a school, the school will also be informed. Your child will remain on the school register until the education assessment is completed and they are placed on the Section 14 Register.

Assessment 

An assessment of your home education provision will take place within six months of AEARS receiving a complete application.
