Baby John was born with his twin sister in Galway in October 2024. John has a diagnosis of a rare medical condition and is currently under the care of the Neonatology team in Temple Street Children’s Hospital. John has difficulties with his physical development which causes significant bone fractures, fragility and also respiratory difficulties. With the support from his medical team, John is making steady progress. John is a little baby who loves cuddles and having someone by his side reading him books and talking to him, which promotes his social and emotional development. John’s foster carer will be supported and trained on how to meet his individual care needs. John urgently needs a foster home in or near to Galway. John’s foster carer will play a big role supporting him with his medical needs. He is currently being tube fed but will also need support to be fed orally. He also requires regular checks on his blood sugar. John has attended the hospital physiotherapist and occupational therapist and is making good progress. John’s foster carer will need to support him with stretching exercises and massage at home. His physical therapy programme will be provided along with support from the therapist before he is discharged from the hospital.
