Details of Independent Schools

Under Section 14 Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, the Alternative Education Assessment and Registration Service (AEARS) is responsible for the regulation of provision for education in places other than (Department of Education) recognised schools, and the maintenance of a register for children enrolled. This includes oversight for the educational provision at private independent schools/centres of education.

The below schools/centres of education have been assessed by an Alternative Education Assessment and Registration Service Authorised Person under Section 14 Education (Welfare) Act, 2000. These Schools have met the requirements, and children attending are eligible for registration. Parents of children (over the age of six years) attending these schools are obliged to submit an R1 Application to the Alternative Education Assessment and Registration Service. This can be facilitated by the school principal on parents/guardians’ behalf. Parents/guardians can submit an application directly to the AEARS via email or post. Parents/guardians should liaise with the principal of the Independent School regarding submitting an application. The Alternative Education Assessment and Registration Service carries out periodic review assessments of the provision at Independent Schools.
