My tracing journey
Tracing entails seeking or searching for a person for the purposes of making contact or seeking or sharing information. All tracing requests are conducted in partnership with your dedicated social worker.
We are committed to our values of Trust, Kindness, Respect and Empowerment and to that end will ensure that you are fully informed and consulted throughout the trace. You will be encouraged and supported to express your views and feelings about your journey. You will be encouraged to set your own pace in your own tracing journey, while at the same time giving you time and space to consider new information and experiences. This journey can be very emotional for many people and your social worker will be there to provide you with the necessary supports and advice on practical challenges you may face.
Tracing enquiries can have a number of possible outcomes. One outcome might be that the person being traced is found and is willing to have some form of contact. This could begin with the sharing of information, letters, or photos and could proceed to in-person contact when all parties are ready and willing to do so as the sharing of information is by mutual agreement.
