A foster family for Jamie

A loving family in the Wexford/Waterford area is needed to provide a home for a very special family of four children.

*Mary is a 6-year-old little girl who is living with her foster carers in the southeast. Unfortunately, Mary's current foster carers are not able to care for her long-term due to their age.

Mary is a very bright, chatty little girl with a huge heart. She is the eldest of her sibling group and can take on a very nurturing and caring role.

Mary loves horse riding, hurling, football and basketball. She is a real daredevil and has often told everyone that she is afraid of nothing.

Mary also loves drawing and colouring and has a key interest in making bracelets for everyone she meets.

Mary needs a foster carer who lives in ideally the Wexford area or within an hour's drive so that she can still feel a connection to her home and a sense of identity.

She can struggle to regulate her emotions from time to time which can cause her to have mild outbursts. As Mary begins to feel safe and secure, these outbursts will minimise, and she is able to work through them with the support and understanding of her foster carers.

Once in a settled placement, Mary will begin play therapy, which will be an enormous help to her.

*Peter is a 3-year-old who is currently in a placement in the east of the country. He is an amazing little boy whose smile lights up a room. Although developmentally he is behind in his milestones, since entering care Peter has begun to use more words, sing nursery rhymes, and overall engage more positively with those around him.

Peter can become distressed when told ‘no’, particularly when brought back inside, as he loves playing outside. He soothes himself quickly when given his bottle, dummy and blanket. Peter also loves cuddles with his carers and tickles.

He is an incredibly loving and cheerful little boy adores music.

He began creche this year and really enjoys it. He is slowly starting to interact with the other children and enjoys participating in different activities.

Peter has asthma, which is managed through daily medication. He is linked in with Crumlin Hospital and (CDNT) children's disability network team for supports.

*Aideen is a beautiful little five-month-old baby who was born seven weeks premature. She had a rough start in life with a number of health complications but has come back fighting each time. Although slow to develop at first, Aideen has been making significant progress over the last few weeks and is catching up on all of her milestones.

She has regular hospital appointments, so she will need carers who are willing to attend these with her. Aideen will also begin physiotherapy in the coming months with the (CDNT) children's disability network team.

*Kenny is a 5-year-old little boy who lives in the east of the country. A very chatty, fun-loving and loving little boy, he is very energetic.

Kenny loves the outdoors and particularly loves going for walks in the forest to look for bears and foxes. He enjoys sensory play and any kind of imaginative play.

Kenny enjoys rap songs on the way to school in the mornings and lots of cuddles and reassurance from those caring for him.

He is fiercely protective over his family and is incredibly loyal. He requires foster carers who are ready to give him a chance, investing the time and energy needed to build a secure attachment so that he feels safe and can lower his guard.

Kenny has been diagnosed with a mild learning disability. His speech is somewhat hard to understand at times, which can cause him to become frustrated when those around him do not understand him. However, once you get to know Kenny it becomes much easier to understand everything he is saying.

Kenny needs a high level of support in school but once settled, really enjoys attending.
