Mary* is a 17-year-old girl who is currently living in a temporary arrangement in the Southeast of the country. Mary is pregnant and is in urgent need of a foster carer who can welcome her and, in March 2025, her newborn baby boy into their home.

Mary is a sociable, kind and caring young girl who enjoys going to the cinema, baking and doing art projects. She also likes spending time outside the home with her boyfriend and family members. 

Mary receives full prenatal medical care and has many supports in place to help prepare her for childbirth and life as new mother. Mary does face some additional challenges, particularly around personal care, substance misuse and emotional regulation, but she is engaging with the necessary services to help her overcome them.

Mary needs a patient and understanding foster carer who can help support and guide her through this transitional period in her life. Once the baby is born, the child will also be deemed ‘in care’ and will reside with his mother.

Though a foster carer in the Southeast would be ideal for Mary, this is a nation-wide appeal.
