Lily* is a very kind, sociable and happy 12-year-old who came into the care of Tusla following the passing of her mother. Lily does not present with any behavioural issues, and she will open up about her emotions with the people that she trusts. She has engaged in emotional wellbeing exercises with a social care leader and is now able to seek support from those who she is comfortable with.

She is in 6th class in her new school, which she joined in September 2025. Since then, she has made many new friends and has settled in well to her new surroundings. While she is still awaiting on an assessment of need, her new school feel she is excelling without any extra assistance which she used to receive in her previous school.

Lily enjoys the outdoors and going to the park, she loves going on walks, swimming and chatting to whoever she is with. Halloween was a very special new experience for her, as she got take part in dressing up and trick-or-treating for Halloween, which she had never done before. She is also looking forward to Christmas this year.

Lily’s ethnicity is black Irish/South-African, and she has lived in Ireland for her whole life. Despite never being to South Africa, she has links to her culture/heritage as has weekly video calls with her sister who resides in South Africa.
