John* is a little boy who was born with his twin sister in October 2024. John has a diagnosis of a rare medical condition and is under the care of the Paediatric team in Galway University Hospital. John has difficulties with his physical development which causes significant bone fractures, fragility and also respiratory difficulties. With the support from his medical team, John is making steady progress.

John loves cuddles and having someone by his side reading him books and talking to him, which promotes his social and emotional development. John’s foster carer will be supported and trained on how to meet his individual care needs.

John urgently needs a foster home in or near to Galway. John’s foster carer will play a big role supporting him with his medical needs. He is currently being peg fed and also requires regular checks on his blood sugar. John avails of the hospital physiotherapist and occupational therapist and is making progress. 

John and his foster carer will receive a comprehensive support package including a night nursing package and day services. Further details on the supports and training available can be discussed on enquiry.
