A long-term home for Darragh

Darragh* is a friendly child who has lots of friends in school and in the local area. He is a caring child, in particular towards children who are younger than him. Darragh loves sports and being outdoors and keeping active. He enjoys when his carers take an involvement in his activities and are part of his achievements.

Darragh does well when he has activities and structure in his week. He needs clear boundaries and rules that are consistent.

Darragh has a big family and loves to see them at regular visits. He has a very close bond with his brothers and looks forward to seeing them.

Darragh loves soccer, GAA, and is a member of the local Rugby club; he is also in a BMX club. He also enjoys watching movies, and playing computer games.

Darragh has had positive engagement with social care staff, and he has done well in his current respite placement. Darragh now needs a long term placement with a carer or carers who will give him lots of encouragement and support to engage with services. He needs people who understand that he has experienced trauma in his early years, and this sometimes affects his behaviour.

A foster carer or carers in the Waterford/Carlow area, or within driving distance (e.g. Laois/Kilkenny) would suit Darragh best so he can stay connected to his local community. He has had a global assessment and was diagnosed with ADHD. Carers will be given training and support to help care for Darragh.
