Benjamin* is an affectionate and inquisitive seven-year-old boy who needs a long-term foster carer.Benjamin* enjoys swimming and watching cartoons, and he is highly engaged in his junior infants class, which is a special class for those with ASD. Though he only started in December 2025, he has settled in very well and loves to learn. He especially enjoys practising his numbers, letters, and writing. Benjamin has been diagnosed with autism with accompanying moderate intellectual disability. As a result, he requires significant supports related to communication, self-care, safety awareness, and sensory needs. Some of the supports already in place for Benjamin include a tablet for enhanced communication, though he is verbal and learning new words all the time, and the support of his local Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT). Benjamin would most benefit from having a foster carer with some experience of caring for someone with additional needs, or someone open to learning to do so. While he currently has a school place and structured supports in North Dublin, Benjamin can relocate for the right foster care placement. If you think you might be able to open your home to Benjamin, please contact Tusla's national freephone fostering number 1800 226 771 or email tusla.fostering@tusla.ie and mention his name.
