Registration Determination

Once an action plan has been agreed the centres registration status will be granted. Registration is decided fundamentally by assessment of the performance and operation of the centre against the standards and regulations on inspection and the perceived ability of the centre to meet those requirements on an ongoing basis. The inspectorate have as such the ability to add conditions to the registration of any service, conditions are similar to improvement notices as utilised in other jurisdictions and are designed to ensure the safety and welfare of young people. Conditions can and will be imposed where evidence displays an inability to meet particular standards and in cases of repeated failures to meet and maintain standards or where the operation of the centre is deemed to pose an immediate adverse affect to the well being of young people the centre can be removed from the register and closed.
